The Jan/Feb 2012 issue of Canadian Biker is on newsstands.

It should come as no surprise to most motorcyclists that 25% of riders are now women and among those taking new rider training courses the number approaches 40%. Manufacturers have responded with both motorcycles and gear that target this growing segment of the market. The lead story in this issue follows one women’s journey back into the sport after a long time spent away and her discussions with other women she meets along the way.
Italy. Home of so much motorcycle tradition. Ducati, Moto Guzzi, MV Agusta... the list goes on and on. Italy, and in specific Milan, is home to the largest motorcycle show in the world - EICMA. Our editor John Campbell visits Milan to experience the show and to grasp the size of the motorcycle market in Europe. Nothing here in North America really compares to this enormous event. New bikes, new products, celebrities. There is something like 10 football fields of motorcycle related product. 500,000 people attend. It takes days to get through the entire show. John does his best while also acting as a judge in the inaugural EICMA custom show.

In Pondering the Peacemaker Oliver Jervis joins the Vancouver Police Department motorcycle training camp aboard a police spec Kawasaki Concours. Oliver is our track guy but he quickly learns that It might be easy to go fast but going sow on a tight pylon course is a whole other matter. And then there is the matter of riding a bike with a array of lights....

On the road we head to the mountains of Arizona where Frank Simon discovers that the first thing to learn about surviving the desert is being prepared for the desert ... and listening to the directions.
